Hydro Electric

Hydro Schemes – We have successfully completed up to 5 Hydro schemes to date of various different sizes and are construting a further 3 hydro schemes around Scotland listed below:

  • Philiphaugh Estate Hydro – 1.3km of 315 HPPE, 75m head. – (Penstock, headworks & powerhouse base only)
  • Touch Hydro – replacement 730m of 355 HPPE main, 75 m total head. (Penstock replacement & powerhouse bypass only)
  • Selcoth Hydro, by Moffat. (190kW) – 1.8km of 355 HPPE penstock, River intake, steel portal frame powerhouse. (Turbine supplied & installed by maunfacturer).
  • Scatwell Hydro, by Inverness (100kW) – 1.9km of 280 / 315 mm HPPE Penstock, new dam & Intake at loch, traditional build powerhouse – due for commissioning mid December 2013.
  • Cashel Farm Loch Lomond (500KW) - 2.4 km of 450mm ductile iron and 500mm HPPE ranging from SDR 11 to SDR 26, the construction of 3 intakes tailrace and powerhouse  from april 2014 to december 2014.
  • Crofthead Farm Near Moffat (100KW) - 1.1 km of 315mm HPPE penstock,new intake and the construction of a new powerhouse due for completion in spring 2015.
  • Touch estate Stirling (100KW) - 1.2 km of 400mm HPPE penstock, new intake and the construction of a new powerhouse with tailrace due for completion spring 2015.
  • Scabcleuch Farm Ettrick - micro hydro scheme 500m of 250 HPPE penstock, new intake and the instalation of the turbine in an existing out building due for completion spring 2015.
  • While these schemes have been in construction we have provided construction design and feasibility advice to consultants concerning other possible schemes in Scotland.

Advice has been on intake structure locations, penstock installation, general construction phases with our experienced staff who have been involved in the water industry at various levels for over 20 years.
